Trademark Attorney

Senior Associate / Staff Attorney / Partner — level commensurate with experience
Full-Time | 100% Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a highly competent U.S. trademark attorney who can operate independently — someone we do not have to supervise. This is a role for a self-directed practitioner who can own matters end to end, handle tough client calls, and develop and deliver strategy on their own. Depending on experience, this can be structured as a Senior Associate, Staff Attorney, or Partner position.

The right person will have solid U.S. trademark prosecution and enforcement experience as their foundation, but will also be comfortable handling international work — ranging from customs seizures in Turkey, to prosecution strategy in Brazil, to negotiations in Europe and many other matters including customs & sample purchases in the Americas and EMEA regions. We want someone who is energized by that global scope.

This is also a role built around balance. We work very hard and hold ourselves to a high standard — but we are not asking anyone to bill 2,000 or more hours a year and never see daylight. We have intentionally set a lighter billable expectation so the right person can do excellent work, have a real life, and stay in this career for the long haul.

A portable book of business is not required, but is highly encouraged. Eligon offers above-industry origination and compensation ratios — particularly for attorneys who bring a book of business.

We are a small, tight-knit, and dynamic team. Off the clock, we have road racers, a pilot, artists, and an avid global trekker (from Italy to Indonesia) among us — and we like it that way. We celebrate and enjoy the different backgrounds each brings to the table. We are looking for someone with high energy who is smart, self-directed, genuinely excited about global brand protection, and interested in growing alongside a fun group of hard-working people. Culture matters to us. We work hard, support each other, and maintain a strict no-jerk policy.

  • Manage UDRP and domain name disputes
  • Handle enforcement matters, including drafting cease-and-desist letters and related correspondence
  • Lead and own client calls, counseling, and strategy with minimal oversight
  • Counsel clients on trademark clearance, adoption, and global filing strategy
  • Manage global trademark portfolios and coordinate with foreign counsel, including WIPO filings
  • Draft clearance opinions, office action responses, and client-facing strategy memos
  • Build a professional presence and thought leadership — e.g., LinkedIn/social media, speaking at webinars and industry events, and contributing to the firm’s blog — to help generate business and raise the firm’s profile

  • Demonstrated ability to lead difficult client calls and develop strategy on your own
  • Experience managing global trademark portfolios and foreign associate relationships
  • Excellent academic credentials, writing, and client-communication skills
  • Experience with international trademark procedures

  • Portable book of business not required, but highly encouraged

  • Above-industry compensation ratios for attorneys with a book of business

  • Supportive, respectful culture with real autonomy and trust
  • Profit-sharing program
  • Strong benefits and 401(k) matching
  • Two-week year-end firm closure

Compensation & Hours

  • Base salary range: $90,000–$130,000, DOE (depending on experience)
  • Lighter billable expectation — a 1,000 hour annual billable floor

Final Word

This is not a role for coasting. We are building a modern, high-performing trademark practice and are looking for someone who can run with matters independently and help lead the way.
