Alibaba Group and IACC (International Anticounterfeiting Coalition) are co-hosting a workshop for Design Rights, focusing on key points surrounding a design in the US, EU, and China. This free webinar is focuses on the design rights and protection, including discussion of available registered and unregistered design rights, online and offline enforcement options, real-life experiences in the US, Europe and China as well as related IP rights and brand protection best practices. Amy Hsiao, Eligon partner, is invited to speak to the group about brand protection and enforcement strategies in China, Greater China and Asia. In Amy’s presentation, she will discuss design patent, trade dress law throughout Asia, as well as practical strategies on protecting unique product designs, packaging and product shapes – i.e., the unique brand features that are not spoken in words.
The first 70 minutes will introduce the participants to Design Rights (“Design Rights 101”), the speakers include:

- Dr. Jay Kennedy, Assistant Professor, Michigan St. University (Presentation will focus on the US Design/Utility Patents, Trade Dress/Trademark, and Copyrights)
- Sophia Bonne, EUIPO (Presentation will focus on Europe design rights)
- Amy Hsiao, Partner at Eligon IP and Chair of ABA China IP Committee (Presentation will focus on design rights in China/Asia)
The second 50 minutes will include a panel discussion and Q&A:
