Eligon partner Amy Hsiao is invited to speak on intellectual property at a highly-anticipated Alibaba SME Advisory Committee meeting in March 2021. Her talk focuses on the system differences between Asia and the rest of the world, and how these fundamental system differences impact trademark and branding strategies for businesses operating or thinking to expanding into China. She will then focus on top 3 unique features of China’s Trademark/Copyright system and conclude with practical tips to protect a brand when the company is just starting out in China.
The SME Advisory Committee was launched by the Alibaba Anti-Counterfeiting Alliance in September 2020 (see press release here); the Committee is dedicated to educating and helping small and medium-size businesses for brand strategies and protections. Amy’s talk will address the members of the committee, which comprises of companies from diverse industries and countries, including the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
